Next steps
After chapter 14
How to start: the first 30 days
Weeks 1–4, in order
- Week 1. Remove the claims the FDA treats as drug claims ("heals", "anti-inflammatory", "collagen") from the site. Fix the sticky-bar price, the 2 oz button and the guarantee wording. Send landed cost per SKU. Ask a customs broker to quote importer-of-record setup and the USMCA certificate (needed before any Amazon stock ships).
- Week 2. Approve the positioning line, the hero SKU and the launch offers. Create the "Plantd Skincare" Facebook page; prove the Purchase event with one real order.
- Week 3. Publish the three pain views on one product template with pooled reviews and the visible subscription. Book the customs broker and a studio photo of each 8 oz jar on pure white. Weigh a packed jar and fix the Spa 2 oz barcode for Amazon.
- Week 4. Launch the first Meta wave (three buyers, 4–6 ads). File the trademark and apply for Amazon Brand Registry. Start the US label reprint and the Amazon listing build from the mockup.
Decisions only Plantd can make
- Is Nude 8 oz the US hero, with the five scents as the ritual and gift line?
- Which launch offers are real: the 2-jar free-shipping bar, a 3-jar price, subscription on bundles, the "3 minis" kit?
- One guarantee wording, used everywhere.
- The Meta test budget and the loss you accept while it learns.
- Whether to target a Q4 2026 Amazon gift launch or Q1 2027.
What we need from Plantd
- Landed cost per SKU, and the distributor behind the 160 doors.
- Admin access to Shopify, the Meta Business account and the pixel.
- A studio packshot of each 8 oz jar on pure white, and a weighed filled jar.
- Supplier statements (solvent origin, natural vanillin, IFRA per scent) and the expiry dating.
- Answers to the 14 open questions in the roadmap full detail.
How we'll know it's working Estimate
Leading signals and targets per phase. The targets are planning numbers from our Meta method and the channel math in this report; replace each with Plantd's own baseline after the first month.
Phase 0 · Fix
- One test order counted once at the right value in Meta and Shopify
- No claim the FDA treats as a drug claim on any page an ad can reach; sticky price matches the selection
- Broker sign-off on classification, USMCA certificate and the US label
Phase 1 · Meta and the site
- Cost per sale under about $30 on a 2-jar order (break-even about $32.50 with assumed costs)
- An ad is paused at about $90 with no sale; it is proven at 10+ sales in 7 days at target
- Cost per add-to-cart under about $10, if roughly one cart in three becomes an order
- Click-through and page conversion read against the account's own first two weeks, per landing view
Phase 1 · Amazon
- Sessions on the scent listing rising week over week once ads start; baseline set in month 1
- Unit session percentage (orders ÷ sessions) read weekly against the first month; a falling rate with steady sessions points at images, price or reviews
- 30 Vine reviews in the first 6–8 weeks; 50+ reviews before any face product is listed
- Ad cost under 35% of ad-driven sales by month 3 (break-even 50% at a $4 jar, 36% at $8); total ad cost under about 15–20% of all Amazon sales by month 6
Phase 1 · Faire
- 10–30 stores in the first quarter (one beauty founder reports 32 from about $500 a month in Faire ads)
- Reorders from gift and spa shops within 90 days
Phase 2–3 · Distributors
- Reorders within 90 days from stores that opened
- Trade and deductions under about 15% of the distributor price, reconciled monthly
- The existing Lotus Light listing reorders: stores that order a second time, before any new distributor
